Born May 1, 1837 in Milford, Mass.

Edwin B. Taft, age 23, a carpenter, is recorded as an inhabitant of Acton in the 1860 federal census, in household (dwelling no. 123) with Sarah Taft, age 21 (source:  1860 United States Federal Census. In: [online database]).

According to pension documents (linked above), Edwin married Sarah T. Handley of Acton in July 1857 in Rhode Island and divorced her in May 1867. His second wife was Sarah L. (Gore) Handley, who died July 1873 in Upton. He married Angelia Cook in November, 1875 in Milford, Mass.

Name included on the Acton Memorial Library Soldiers' Tablet, "The Men of Acton Who Fought For The Union."
