Orenzo Washington Penniman was born in Carlisle to parents Otis Penniman and Rebecca Hutchinson (Acton death record, Register of Birth Marriages and Deaths, Acton Mass.).

"Lorenzo [sic] W. Penniman", age 21, a farmer, is recorded as an inhabitant of Acton in the 1860 federal census, in household with Otis H. and Elizabeth R. Penniman ("1860 United States Federal Census," Ancestry.com).
