Allen Porter Whitcomb, son of Samuel Whitcomb, Jr. and his wife Mary, was born in Littleton September 21, 1827 ("Littleton, MA Records," p. 3561, in AmericanAncestors.org).

Allen P. Whitcomb was the brother of Nahum Whitcomb, and the brother-in-law of Albert W. Robbins (Littleton Massachusetts 1714-2014, Celebrating 300 Years of History: 187)

Allen P. Whitcomb of Littleton, age 30, a carpenter, son of Samuel and Mary Whitcomb, married Susan E. Hill, age 25, of Billerica on September 19, 1858 at Littleton, Mass. ("Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910," vol. 127, p. 85, in AmericanAncestors.org).

His first wife Susan Whitcomb died February 21, 1864. He married Sarah E. Reed, March 29, 1865 at Mendon, Mass. (pension file).
