              On Aug
26th, 1862, I first entered the service as private in Company E
6th Mass Infantry for nine months.

                After my
term had expired, I was finally discharged on June 3rd, 1863.

                The first
battle I took part in was on the Blackwater and Siege of Suffolk.

                I was wounded
in the left arm by a fragment of a shell and for which I now draw
                  a pension
                At Suffolk,
Va, I was confined in a hospital.
