Wireless Access Policy
Welcome to the Acton Memorial Library's wireless Internet service. Use of this service is provided to those who read and agree to comply with this policy.
The user must provide a laptop computer with a wireless network interface card and properly configured software. Library staff may offer general help with searching but cannot assist with technical details of your personal computer. The Library and Town are not responsible for any damage that may occur due to electrical problems, downloaded software, or any other damage resulting from the use of the wireless network. The user agrees to hold the Library and Town harmless and to indemnify both from any and all liability.
The wireless connection provides less security than wired networks; users should exercise caution when transmitting credit card numbers or other sensitive information. Users are urged to protect their computers with firewall software and data encryption.
Printers are not provided with the wireless network.
If you wish to listen to sounds, you must provide a headset for this purpose.
Users of the wireless network are bound by the library's Internet Policy and by the Minuteman Library Network Internet Policy for computer use in the library. All applicable U.S. and Massachusetts laws must be observed.
Parents are responsible for the use of the Internet by their children.
The Library reserves the right to prohibit any person from accessing the wireless network if his or her use of the network constitutes harassment of any other person, illegal or unauthorized access to other computers, networks, or data, or any other violation of the policies of the Library or the Minuteman Library Network. It is unacceptable to use the wireless network for distribution of unsolicited advertising, propagation of worms or viruses, or to vandalize the data of any other user.
