BigFuture, by the College Board


Although published by the College Board, which operates the SAT, AP, PSAT, and CLEP, and sells study guides and online courses, this helpful site encourages people to use free prep methods. There are many helpful articles about testing, especially one called “Admission Test Myths”, a slide show which is a good place to start to understand how college testing works.


Khan Academy Personalized SAT Practice


The College Board has partnered with Khan Academy to provide free practice for the new SAT. This resource includes full-length practice tests, diagnostic quizzes, instant feedback, and personalized practice recommendations.

From the College Board, which is the administrator of the SAT and other tests, this official site has many free resources including: sample practice questions; a full length SAT practice test; a question of the day; “Skills Insight”, a tool to help users analyze their abilities; and information on test dates.  Other resources require a fee.

Find free College Board resources here; this is part of the counselor resource center, but it has quick links to College Board web pages whose intended audience is students, including question of the day, practice test, and math review.




The official site of the ACT offers tips, practice questions, descriptions of the test, a question of the day and information on dates and registration. You can download a free preparation booklet including practice tests. An online prep test and the official prep book are offered for purchase.


Massachusetts High School Equivalency Credential


Massachusetts residents may take either the GED test or the HiSET to earn the High School Equivalency Credential. This site includes information on eligibility, test center locations, how to prepare for both tests, and more.




This is the site of Educational Testing Service, administrator of the GRE, the graduate school admissions test, where you may find information about the test, free and low cost preparation materials, and test dates, and register for the test.
