PREVIEW SALE

BOOK SALE
Saturday, June 1, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
HALF-PRICE DAY
Sunday, June 2, 2-4 p.m.

For more than 40 years, the Friends have been holding book sales in Acton. These popular events draw hundreds of book lovers to the Library meeting room, where thousands of great books can be found at rock-bottom prices.
All Friends
sales begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. promptly. The best selection is
right at the beginning, and so, too, are the biggest crowds.
Sales
take place in the first-floor meeting room near the Library's main entrance.
Children's books, as well as many adult paperbacks, are in the Solarium--the
space just to the left of where you enter the library. Though the selection
is best early, bargains can still be unearthed as the day goes on, and
the later you come, the more pleasurable your browsing experience is
likely to be. Please check the Events
Calendar for book sale times and to learn about the exclusive
Preview Night.

Book Sale Leftovers
People often ask us where the leftover books go at the end of a sale.
We are lucky to be in touch with volunteers from charitable organizations
who take many of them.
If you
represent a charitable organization and would like books, please contact
Carol Domblewski at cdomblewski@gmail.com or 978/263-2046 before the
sale. The privilege of collecting on the day of the sale is extended only
at certain times and to those who have called in advance.
Donating Books
The Friends are grateful to everyone who donates books.
Books may
be donated at any time the library is open. We welcome all books in good condition,
and we especially love to get
good-quality children's books.
If
something is torn, moldy, or marked up heavily we do not resell it. We also cannot resell, and so no longer accept, magazines, videotapes or cassette tapes.
If you
plan on donating books, please understand that we cannot guarantee the
destination or use of that book. Some people donate to us thinking their
donation will end up on the Library shelves. Occasionally,
that does happen. The staff checks most donations to see whether they
contain a book that the library might wish to purchase, replace, or own
additional copies of. But patrons cannot earmark donations for the Library.
Also, we cannot accept books on the day of the sale because we screen,
sort, and evaluate donations, all of which requires more time, thought,
and effort than we can afford to give them on sale days.
All donations to the Friends of the Acton Libraries are deductible to
the extent permitted by law. Copies of our exemption letter, our exemption
application, and all supporting documents are available for public inspection
at the Acton Memorial Library.
