Our Libraries Rock Film Series kicks off with Singin’ In the Rain which will be shown on Tuesday, July 17 at 7 p.m. This classic starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds portrays the end of the silent movie era as Hollywood moved toward sound films or “talkies.” This film is rated G. The Libraries Rock Film Series continues with Bye Bye Birdie on Tuesday, July 24 at 7 p.m. In this 1964 film starring Dick Van Dyke, Ann-Margret, and Janet Leigh, fictional rock and roll star Conrad Birdie is drafted into the Army and plans are made for his good-bye performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. This film is not rated. A brief discussion will follow the movie.

Our Libraries Rock Film Series wraps up with La La Land on Tuesday, July 31 at 7 p.m. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling star in this film about a jazz pianist and aspiring actress beginning a whirlwind romance as they pursue their dreams in Los Angeles. This film is rated PG-13. A brief discussion will follow the movie.
