Lewis William Mather (Marthers) was born Oct. 13, 1838 to John and Orvilla Mather in Milford, Mass. (“Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850,” AmericanAncestors.org).

Lewis W. Mather, age 11, is recorded as an inhabitant of Holliston, Mass. in the 1850 federal census, in household (dwelling no. 394/412) of John and Orville Mather ("1850 United States Federal Census," Ancestry.com).

Lewis W. Mather and Fannie Holbrook were married in 1859  (Ruther Mather, Some Descendants of Rev. Richard Mather (1596-1669): 96, 206. Online: www.leggcommunications.com/The%20Mather%20Family/Mather.pdf).

Lewis W. Mather, age 21, a boot treer, is recorded as an inhabitant of Milford, Mass. in the 1860 federal census, in household (dwelling no. 2/4) of Orbilla Mather, age 60; also in household was Fanny Mather, age 20  ("1860 United States Federal Census," Ancestry.com).

A daughter, Ida Frances Mather, was born April 20, 1863 in Worcester. Her Mother, Fannie Mather, born in Keene, N.H., was a resident of Shirley, and her father, Lewis, born in Holliston, was a soldier (Shirley register of births, "Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910," AmericanAncestors.org).

A son, Lewis Henry Mather, was born to Lewis W. Mather (soldier, born Holliston) and Frances Holbrook Mather (born, Keene, N.H.) on May 20, 1865, in Holliston, Mass. ("Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910," AmericanAncestors.org).
