Nahum H. Whitcomb was born July 29, 1838 in Littleton, Mass. to Samuel and Mary Whitcomb. ("Littleton, MA Records," p. 4130 [transcription], AmericanAncestors.org).

Nahum Harwood Whitcomb, age 22, son of Samuel and Mary, married Mary F. Sprague, age 17, on December 23, 1860. ("Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910," vol. 136, p. 95 [image], AmericanAncestors.org).

A daughter, Ada Hanson Whitcomb, was born (Feb.?) 1962 to Nahum Harwood and Mary Francis Whitcomb. ("Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910," vol. 151, p. 163 [image], AmericanAncestors.org).

Nahum H. Whitcomb, age 24, son of Samuel Whitcomb Jr. and Mary Reed, died of typhoid pneumonia at Suffolk, Va. on December 13, 1862. ("Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910," vol. 157, p. 154 [image], AmericanAncestors.org).

The death of Nahum Whitcomb is mentioned in a letter dated Dec. 20, 1862 from Eliza Sprague to her brother Aaron Jones Fletcher.
