Emory A. Symonds was born in Acton to Obed A. (born Ashby) and Mary (Wright) (born Acton). An umarried fireman with the railroad, he died in a railroad accident at age 22 (source: Acton death record, Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910. In: NewEnglandAncestors.org [online database]).

Emory Augustus Simonds, age 9, is recorded in the 1855 Massachusetts State Census for Acton, in household (dwelling no. 258) of Obed Augustas and Mary Simonds.
