At Lowell, Mass., August twenty-fifth, 1862 I first entered the service as private, in Company E Sixth Regiment of Infantry Massachusetts Volunteers and at the close of the war my rank still was the same.

On June 3rd, 1863, I was first discharged at Lowell, Mass., as my term of enlistment had expired

My first engagement was at Ludlow Lawrence's Plantation on the Blackwater. I also took part in the engagements at Joiner's Ford on the Blackwater, Deserted House and Siege of Suffolk.

Among my most intimate comrades were Captain Whitcomb, Walter Holden, and Oscar Preston.

I Certify that the Sketch of my War service as above written is true as
