Comrade Samuel G. Brown
Who was born the twentieth day of March A.D. 1835
in
Boston County of Suffolk State of Massachusetts

I first entered the service as Corporal August 31st, 1862 with Company E 6th Regiment M.V. M. at Lowell, Mass My rank during service was that of a corporal and at the close of the war it was still that of a corporal. At the expiration of nine months service, I was discharged on June 3rd, 1863.

 

I never was re-enlisted, again commissioned or transferred to any other organization

 

On November 18th, 1862, I was first engaged in battle at "Ludlow Lawrence's Plantation on the Blackwater" and also was engaged in the battles that took place at "Joiner's Ford on the Blackwater" Dec. 12, 1862 "Deserted House," and at the "Siege of Suffolk" April 11, 1863. The battle at the "Deserted House" took place Jany 30, 1863.

 

I never was wounded or taken prisoner but was confined in a hospital at Suffolk on January 1, 1863.
