the service at Acton, Mass. In April 1861 in Company E Old Sixth
Regiment (Acton) as private, holding the same rank while in service.
As I had served my whole time, I was first discharged at Boston
Common on July 22nd, 1861.
I again enlisted, this time in Company E. 26th Regiment, Mass. Infantry
for three years and was discharged at New Iberia La. On August 26,
1865 as the war had come to a close.
battle was at Baltimore on Apr. 19th, 1861 and I was also engaged
at Winchester, Cedar Creek, and Fisher's Hill.
I was never
wounded but was confined in a hospital at New Orleans, La.
Silas D. Blodgett, John Blood, James Fiske, and Mason Wheeler were
among my most intimate comrades.
"Serving Uncle Sam" I deem to be the most important event
during my army life.
