mustered into U.S. service at Lowell, Mass. on Oct. 18th, 1861,
in Company E. 26th Regiment Mass. Volunteers, as private. On Aug.
20th, 1862, he was promoted in rank to corporal and at the close,
he still held the same rank.
expiration of a term of service, he was discharged on Oct. 18th,
1864 in the Shenandoah Valley and never enlisted into service again.
21st, 1863, he first took part in a battle at Lafouche, Louisiana,
and also was engaged on Sept. 19th, 1864, at Cedar Creek, Va.
In July 1862, He was confined in Hospital, Odd Fellows Hall, New
Orleans, La. Jany to March 63 in Marine Hospital.
Comrade Lokers time expired Oct.18th, 1864 and was discharged
at that time, but like a true soldier and patriot, stayed with his
Regiment, fighting with them at Cedar Creek on Oct. 19 and helped
to win that glorious victory under Sheridan.
