Value Line and Morningstar
Trustworthy information on stocks and mutual funds can be difficult to find, whether you’re a seasoned expert or just beginning to invest. The library subscribes to two services, Morningstar Investment Research Center and Value Line Research Center, that can help you make important decisions about your investments. Both databases are available from home to Acton residents with a valid library card, or to anyone on site at the library. To access these databases, visit http://www.actonmemoriallibrary.org/resources-research/databases and scroll down to the “Business and Investing” category.
The databases provide investment data, reports, and analysis of mutual funds, stocks, and exchange-traded funds, as well as educational content like articles and videos tailored to varying levels of experience. Morningstar also provides portfolio management tools, while Value Line includes a “timeliness” analysis to help forecast a stock’s performance, which also affects their rating of each stock or fund.
For an overview of how to access and use information on Morningstar, visit their “quick guide,” available in PDF here: http://library.morningstar.com/Education/MIRC_QuickGuide.pdf
Value Line’s User Guide will illustrate how to access and read reports, and is available in PDF here: http://www3.valueline.com/pdf/VL_UserGuide.pdfcomments powered by Disqus
