OverDrive Reciprocal Lending Program

by Reference Librarian 2 | August 22, 2018 at 04:08 PM

Minuteman patrons now have access to these other Massachusetts network Overdrive collections using their Minuteman library card:  CLAMS, C/W MARS, NOBLE, OCLN and SAILS.

Lending periods, as well as limits on the number of loans and holds, follow each network’s rules. For example: one patron could borrow 6 items from SAILS, 4 items from CW/MARS, and still borrow up to 10 items from Minuteman.

OverDrive website and original OverDrive app

  • Follow the links to the other library networks, located in the banner at the top of the Minuteman OverDrive homepage. Click the Sign In button at the top of the other network's homepage.

  • On the Sign In screen, select Minuteman Library Patron from the drop-down menu. Sign in using your Minuteman username or library card number and PIN/password.

  • After you borrow an item from another network through the original OverDrive app, the app will automatically add that network to your list of libraries.
  • Access items borrowed and downloaded to the original OverDrive app from all participating networks in the app's Bookshelf.
    • Note:  Only the covers will be displayed in Bookshelf, without indication of the network from which each item was borrowed.
  • To return items early, request renewals, or manage holds, you must sign in to your Account page on the lending network's OverDrive website. For example:  items borrowed through CLAMS will not appear on your Account page on the Minuteman OverDrive website.
    • Items downloaded to the Bookshelf in the original OverDrive app may also be returned by pressing on the cover image and tapping "Return to library"

Libby app

  • To find and switch between collections, tap the Libby icon in the top right corner. Select Add A Library or select from the list of saved libraries.

  • On the Sign In screen, select Minuteman Library Patron from the drop-down menu. Sign in using your Minuteman username or library card number and PIN/password.

  • In Libby, your Shelf displays all of your loans, holds, tags, and activity from any network and library card added. You can completely manage or edit loans, holds, and tags from this one location.
  • Each entry on your shelf also indicates which network you borrowed that item from.
