Major news stories involving stolen passwords, hacked social media accounts, corporate data breaches, mass surveillance, online scams, and other electronic privacy breaches have become ubiquitous. These electronic intrusions can have consequences ranging from mild embarrassment to threats to financial and personal safety.
Many of the conveniences the online world has to offer require people to provide a variety of personal information. Users have different comfort levels with the amount and type of personal data they are willing to share. But how many of us understand the risks?
