Looking for a Good Book?

by Library Staff | December 26, 2014 at 01:12 PM

If you want to see what's popular in the Minuteman Library Network, you can take a look at Minuteman's Top Request ListThe Top Request list provides links into the Minuteman Catalog where you can add yourself to a waiting list (with the "Request It" button)  and be notified when the item arrives for you.

But suppose while you are waiting for "All the Light We Cannot See" (at the top of the list as of this writing), you want a recommendation for another good read?  This is where The "NoveList" service comes in handy. Just type in a fiction title or an author that you've enjoyed, and NoveList will present a list of other titles and authors you might also enjoy, along with a description of the way each book is similar to the one you like. You'll also find a link to the book in the Minuteman Catalog, so you can check ownership status or place a hold. NoveList also features recommended reading lists for different genres and age groups, book discussion guides (great for prepping for your book group), lists of all the major award winners, and more!

While NoveList covers fiction, the "Books & Authors" service covers both fiction and nonfiction. To find read-alikes, type in the title of a book and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will find a list of "Recommended Similar Titles".

To access both NoveList and Books & Authors as well as other resources for readers and book groups, visit our "Book and Media Lists" web page.
