Minuteman and Beyond

Here at the Acton Memorial Library we maintain an extensive collection of books, movies, music, audiobooks, periodicals, newspapers, and more! But we know that your interests and curiosity can send you looking for items that we don’t own. So, we are here to help you borrow what you want from other libraries. There are two main avenues to request items and have them sent for pick up in Acton.

Our library is a member of the Minuteman Library Network. You can request items from any of the 43 libraries who are members of the consortium. If you want, you can place the request yourself through the Minuteman Library Network Catalog by entering your library card number and PIN. You can also call us (978-929-6543), or send us an email (reference @ acton-ma.gov), and we can place a request for you.  Click here for more information about reserving and requesting materials from another Minuteman library.

If none of the libraries in the Minuteman Network own the item that you want, you can request it via the Massachusetts Library System interlibrary loan service. This is not a request that you can make on your own. Click here to access our online interlibrary loan request forms. We will use the information that you provide to search for the item in libraries in Massachusetts, and throughout the United States.  There is no charge to you when you receive an item from a library within the Massachusetts Library System. If you receive an item from outside of Massachusetts, there is a $5 postage/packaging fee that you will be charged when you come to the library to pick up the item.  In addition, some libraries will have lending charges for the use of their materials. The request form gives you the opportunity to specify whether or not you are willing to pay a fee in order to get the material.
