March 18, 2013, 7 p.m. Choosing appropriate exterior paint colors for houses of different architectural styles can be confusing. Understanding the history of a house, the colors and kinds of paint available at different historical periods, how many colors to use, and where to place those colors on different parts of a house can be helpful. Susan Maycock, an architectural historian with the Cambridge Historical Commission, developed and runs an educational paint program for Cambridge property owners that addresses all these issues. With her former colleague Sally Zimmerman, she wrote Painting Historic Exteriors, A Guide to Historic Paint Use, which will be available at the talk. Sponsored by the Acton Memorial Library and the Historic District Commission.
